Dental screening and treatment camp was conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry in association with Government of Karnataka (Ministry of Health and Family welfare) at Primary Health Center, Thimmasandra Channapatna on 20th June 2025 from 09:15 AM to 4:00 PM.

A total of 32 people were screened and 07 were treated. Oral health education and demonstration was provided to the attendees. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.

Rajarajeswari Group of Institutions, in association with the Ministry of Forest and Environment, Government of Karnataka, observed World Environment Day on 17th June 2025 at Guttahalli Palace Grounds, Bengaluru. A dedicated team of doctors from RajaRajeswari Dental College and Hospital (RRDCH) actively participated in the event. The program aimed to promote environmental awareness and emphasize the importance of sustainability in protecting public health. Active participation from students, faculty, and healthcare professionals contributed to the success of the program. The initiative reflected the institution’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and community well-being.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry at RajaRajeswari Dental College & Hospital (RRDCH) celebrated National Public Health Dentistry Day with great enthusiasm. To mark the occasion, a CDE program was organized for students, interns and faculty.

The guest speaker for the event was Dr. Sushi Kadanakuppe,MDS,PhD, Public Health Dentist, Fellow of centre for effective Altruism, member coordinator for Global climate and health alliance WHO and life skills facilitator. She delivered a talk on the topic:
“Stop Filling, Start Preventing – The Talent Blueprint for Future-Facing Dental Public Health.”

The event was attended by undergraduate students, interns, postgraduates, and faculty members. Everyone appreciated the talk and participated actively in the discussion session that followed.

The program ended with a vote of thanks and a small token of appreciation presented to Dr. Sushi. The event was a great reminder of the importance of preventive dentistry and the role public health dentistry professionals play in building a healthier society.

CONTENTS: Dental screening and treatment camp was conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry at Government Primary School, Gangondanahalli, Chandra Layout on 12th June 2025 from 10 AM to 2 PM.
A total of 246 people were screened, and toothbrush, toothpaste were distributed among all the students. Oral health education and demonstration was provided to the attendees. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.

Dental screening and treatment camp was conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry at Mysugar High Schoolon 7th June 2025 from 09:15 AM to 2:30 PM.
A total of 75 people were screened and 16 were treated. Oral health education and demonstration was provided to the attendees. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.

WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY 2025

On the Occasion of World No Tobacco Day – 31st May 2025, The Department of Public Health dentistry had organized the following events:

Event 1
A human chain was formed outside the college premises to raise awareness among the general public about the dangers of tobacco use. Students, faculty, and volunteers participated by holding informative placards and banners promoting a tobacco-free lifestyle. As the college is located by a busy highway, the event effectively captured the attention of commuters and passersby, spreading the message to a wider audience.

Event 2
An awareness program was conducted inside the college premises targeting the patients and their families present in the OPD area. The event aimed to educate people about the harmful effects of tobacco use, risks of second-hand tobacco smoke exposure and promote a tobacco-free lifestyle. Activities included interactive health talks, Q&A session highlighting the risks of tobacco-related diseases and the importance of quitting. The event received a positive response.

Event 3
Pledge for Tobacco-free lifestyle was conducted in the OPD, where students, staff, and patients vowed to abstain from tobacco and support awareness efforts. Additionally, a themed photo booth was set up to engage participants creatively and reinforce the anti-tobacco message. The booth featured educational slogans encouraging attendees to capture their commitment to a tobacco-free life.

Event 4
Participation by 3rd BDS students and Post graduate students from the Dept of public health dentistry and conservative and endodontics in various events as a part of World No Tobacco Day 2025 celebration in Association with Karnataka Cancer Society at Seshadripuram College. Prizes were won in the reels competition.

This program was acknowledged and supported by the Management, Dean, Principal and Faculty of RRDC&H. All the participants co-operated in making this program a grand success

CDE programme on “Role of antimicrobials in Dentistry”

The Department of Periodontology hosted a CDE programme on “Role of antimicrobials in Dentistry” in association with Abbott Healthcare Pvt Ltd. The guest speaker was Dr. Ankita Tyagi. Dr. Ankita Tyagi is a Periodontist and the Regional Medical Advisor (South India) for Abbott Healthcare. The speaker eloquently spoke about the conditions that warrant the use of antibiotics, how and when to choose an antibiotic, development of antimicrobial resistance, different modes of antimicrobial delivery along with their merits and demerits, among other clinically relevant information. The audience consisted of interns, post graduate students and faculty amounting to around 75 participants. The lecture was followed by an interactive Q&A session and snacks. The programme was well received by the audience.

The lecture was held to observe the occasion of World No Tobacco Day 2025, focusing on the dual themes: “Beyond the Horizon: Exploring Tobacco Cessation in Dental Settings” and “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Nicotine Products.”
The session addressed the rising concern over tobacco and emerging nicotine products, particularly the deceptive marketing strategies targeting youth. It emphasized the urgent need to counter these tactics and safeguard public health.
The lecture also highlighted the vital role of dental professionals in tobacco cessation. With their regular patient interactions, dental settings offer key opportunities for early intervention. Practical, evidence-based strategies were shared to help integrate cessation support into routine dental care, reinforcing the goal of a tobacco-free future.
The program was well received and attended by nearly 150 participants including, Faculty, Students, Interns, Post-Graduate Students of RRDCH and faculty members from other dental colleges. The Q&A session was active and whole program lasted half a day.
The Department of Public Health Dentistry also conducted an educational reel competition for which two best prizes and a consolation prize were given. Also on this occasion, the two teams that won the first and third prize in the district level inter collegiate educative reels competition hosted by Karnataka Cancer Society were awarded on stage.
This program was acknowledged and supported by the Management, Dean, Principal and Faculty of RRDCH. All the participants co-operated in making this program a grand success.

General population, Asha workers and students were sensitized on ill effects of tobacco use.Participants were educated through interactive sessions, and a World No Tobacco Day pledge was administered to reinforce commitment towards a tobacco-free lifestyle on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day-Month. Additionally, a signature campaign was conducted.

A total of 46 people were screened and 14 were treated. Oral health education and demonstration was provided to the attendees. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.

Participants were educated through interactive sessions, and a World No Tobacco Day pledge was administered to all the inmates and caretakers to reinforce commitment towards a tobacco-free lifestyle on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day-Month. Additionally, a signature campaign was conducted.
A total of 25 people were screened. Oral health education and demonstration was provided to the attendees. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.

A screening and treatment camp was conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry, RRDCH at Dodda Alada Mara, Bangalore in association with Government of Karnataka as part of the Janaspandana program on 17th May 2025 from 10AM to 3 PM.

General population and Asha workers were sensitized on ill effects of tobacco use. Participants were educated through interactive sessions, and a signature campaign was conducted to reinforce commitment towards a tobacco-free lifestyle on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day-Month.

A total of 65 patients were screened and 24 were given treatment and appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment. Oral health education was provided to all the camp patients.
