Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry >> Overview

Focussed on good dental hygiene in children, the Department of pedodontics and Preventive dentistry aims to do this through a combination of professionally applied and self applied fluorides, deplaning procedures and placement of occlusal sealants.

The objective is to prevent dental caries, gingivitis and periodontal diseases. The Department also treats habitual problems and developing malocclusions. UG and PG students are exposed to the dental issues faced by children and adolescents and get an opportunity to educate them and provide preventive treatment.

The Department is equipped with 37 special child friendly dental chairs as well as a conscious sedation unit. The Department has a unique children’s recreation area that contains special toys and oral education room that enables children to learn better dental hygiene and practice it in their daily lives. The Department also regularly conducts camps and clinics in schools and rural areas.

Future Plans include department collaboration with pediatric specialty to manage children with special health care needs, international collaboration and exchange. Programmes for students and staff, digitalized department library and faculty student exchange programme at national & International level.
