Periodontology >> Overview

The department of periodontology is engaged in the treatment of problems associated with the gums and poor dental hygiene. Through a training program comprising both theory and clinical practice, UG and PG students gain knowledge of arrange of treatments and procedures. These include scaling and root planning, splinting and abscess drainage. Surgeries such as flap surgery, micro-gingiveal surgery and laser assisted surgery are conducted on a regular basis. PG students also undergo training in the latest aesthetic and regenerative procedures using advanced membranes and bone graft materials. The Department is also a recognized centre for Ph.D programs.

The Department is equipped with state-of-the-art dental diagnostic and surgical facilities. Modern dental chairs, ultra-sonic scalers, an electrocautery unit and a laser unit enabling superior patient care. The Department also has a range of advanced GTR membranes and bone grafting materials. Critical researches encompass immunology, periodontal plastic surgery, periodontal regeneration, periodontal medicine and dental implants.
