CDE Programme and Hands on Session
Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics conducted CDE programme on 6 th December 2022 . The topic was “Principles of Endodontics” – lecture and hands-on on “ Rubber Dam Isolation ” by our own In-house speaker Prof (Dr)KJ Nandakishore and assisted by Dr R Vinay Chandra , Dr Annapoorna Kini , Dr Shubhashini N . The lecture was attended by the staffs , post graduates and interns and hands-on was conducted in three batches of 50 interns in each batch.
The lecture attendance was between 150-180. The lectures enlightened basic principles of endodontic practice and highlighted the importance of isolation in dental practice which was really appreciated by the audience. The event was conducted in association with Coltene Whaledent Pvt Ltd who supplied 15 rubber dam kits for the Hands-on.

SUMMARY
Oral cavity is the first component of digestive tract which is delimited by lips anteriorly and oropharynx posteriorly. Oral mucosa has a large number of functions of clinical significance. It acts as a protective, physical and immune barrier from external stimulus and harbors minor salivary glands that secret saliva maintaining the wetness of tissue and perceives and responds to stimulus of touch, temperature and pain. Multiple diseases may affect the oral mucosa and impair its capacity to develop these tasks. Also,abnormal oral mucosa maybe a symptom of mucosal or skin diseases and many systemic conditions. With these background the objectives of the presentation included Differentiate among normal variations and mucosal pathologies for appropriate clinical behavior, diagnosis and treatment plan, Identification of premalignant lesions – for early diagnosis and undertake appropriate measures for prevention and cure and as mouth is a mirror of systemic disease –Oral mucosal lesions can be early manifestation of systemic diseases, so careful examination of oral cavity may reveal findings indicative of underlying systemic condition. A variety of casesof oral mucosal pathologies reported in the department of oral medicine and radiology was collected and were discussed in the presentation.

World Aids Day 2022
On Occasion of WORLD AIDS DAY 2022- the Department of Public Health Dentistry is organizing the following events at RRDCH.
Red Ribbon Distribution
AIDS Awareness program for Dental auxillaries and Nonteaching staff of RRDCH
Date: 1st December 2022.
Venue: New building classroom .
Time: 12 Noon to 1PM.
The Department Of Public Health Dentistry-Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital observed WORLD AIDS DAY 2022 on December 1st. Activities were held to mark WORLD AIDS DAY.
The program included distribution of RED RIBBONS to Dean, Principal and all the Faculty, Post graduate students, Interns and students of various Departments of RRDC & H.
A Guest lecture was organized for the Dental auxiliaries, Non-teaching staff and attenders of RRDCH to mark WORLD AIDS DAY.
A brief note on the talk is as follows:
1. Dr.Aruna CN – Professor and Dr.Sushma S.G, Senior Lecturer, Dept of Public Health dentistry delivered a talk on “ Theme of World aids day 2022 and efforts to tackle AIDS”
The program was well received by the audience.
Children’s Day Celebration
Joyous children’s day and Pediatric Dentist Day was celebrated at Department of Pediatric and preventive dentistry on 14th Nov 2022 with brimming happiness. On this day Oral Health education activities were carried out for kids and parents.
Following this Dean, Principal, along with department faculty, HOD and faculty members of other departments raised the festive mood. Our Enthusiastic students were also a part of the celebration entertaining the children with their dance and singing performances. We ended the celebration by distributing the “Oral Hygiene kits “to the children along with the gifts and quick healthy snacks to children. It is our pride to be able to be connect with these children and will continue to deliver quality dental treatment to them

A dental screening and treatment camp was held at Channenahalli on 16-11-2022 on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.
A team of dentists from the Department of Public Health Dentistry of RRDCH conducted a screening and treatment camp. Awareness on Diabetes and oral health was emphasized to the patients at the venue. A total of 88 patients were screened,24 were treated and appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH.
National tooth brushing Day 2022
In observance of National Tooth brushing Day 2022- The Department of Public Health Dentistry organized an Oral Health Education, Tooth Brushing Demonstration and Distribution of FREE ORAL HYGIENE KITS for students of Government Higher primary school, Chunchunakuppe on 7-11-2022.
Demonstration of correct method of tooth brushing using models and reinforcement of the same was carried out by encouraging the participants to demonstrate the tooth brushing technique that was taught to them. This was followed by education about dental diseases, its treatment and Distribution of free oral hygiene kits for students of Government Higher primary school, Chunchunakuppe Around 25students benefitted from this event.
The program was well received and acknowledged by the students of Government Higher primary school.
IGNACIA 2K22 – College Day Celebrations

The 30th College Day name as IGNACIA 2022 was enthusiastically celebrated. Sri. Srujan Lokesh Actor, Director and TV personality was the Chief Guest and Dr.JanviRayala our alumni and Cine actress was the Guest of Honour.
Medal and certificates of cultural and sports activities were distributed the overall Championship Trophy, The Chairman Trophy was won by Yellow House. Many cultural items were show cased both by staff and students. Everyone enjoyed the day and the DJ Nite which followed after the cultural’s.

26th Graduation Ceremony of Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital was celebrated on 23.11.2022 at ACS Convention Center of Rajarajeswari Group of Institutions. The Graduation began with the welcome address of Dean Dr. Edwin Devadoss. Dr. A. C. Shanmugam Founder Chairman of Rajarajeswari Group of Institution presided the function. In his presidential address he recounted the past years of the institutional program. And expressed his satisfaction of the developments.
Dr. Andrew Edwards Vice President and Dean of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, U.K. who was the Guest of Honour in his Graduation address urged the New Graduates to update Knowledge and excel in their Profession. He spoke about Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the training opportunities for them at the College.
Sri. S.T. Somashekar, Hon’ble Minister for Co-operation Government of Karnataka who was the Chief Guest awarded the degrees and Diplomas to the new Graduands and told them how his Government is providing jobs to the Dentists and how the Government is committed in providing comprehensive health care to the population.
In all 139 students received their degrees and diplomas and 55 of them received topper medals and certificates. 11 of them received Gold Medals. All in the presence of their proud parents. It was a Joyous occasion to everyone which ended with the vote of thanks from Vice Principal Dr. Girish. H. C. and followed by lunch.

A total of 28 people were screened, and appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.

An Oral Health / Dental screening and treatment camp was organized by the Department of Public Health Dentistry,RRDCH in association with the Ministry of Health, Govt of Karnataka (An RBSK program initiative) on 02nd November 2022 from 9.30A.M to 4.00 P.M at Govt. Kannada & English Medium School, Vijayapura, Devanahalli. A total of 315 students were screened and 80 students were given treatment including oral prophylaxis, Restorations and Extractions. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH.
