On the Occasion of World Oral Health Day on 20th of March 2023, the Dept. Of Public Health dentistry and Dept. of Periodontology organized the following events at OPD of RRDCH:
Introduction to the Event was given by Dr Aruna C. N –Prof. and Head of Dept. of Public health Dentistry.
Significance of the theme of World Oral Health Day was given by Dr Rajkumar S Alle – Principal RRDCH.
Distribution of Oral health Products (Toothbrushes, Toothpastes and Mouth rinses) to the patients at OPD by Dean Dr Edwin Devadoss , Principal – Dr Rajkumar S Alle, Dr. Aruna C. N, Dr Vinay R and Faculty .
Oral Health Education was imparted to the public about Awareness of Oral diseases, Maintenance of Oral hygiene and Treatments available at RRDCH by the Postgraduates of Periodontology and Public Health dentistry under the guidance of Dr Vinaya Kumar R – Prof. & Head of Dept. of Periodontology
The Oral Health products for the event were sponsored by Group Pharmaceuticals.
The event was well received by the patients of RRDCH.
We the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics proudly celebrated this year’s Cons-Endo Day withe motive of Creating an Awareness about our specialty.
On the occasion of “Cons-Endo Day” on 10th March 2023, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics organized the following events in the Auditorium of RRDCH:
• Talk on ‘Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics – Concepts of Protection and Preservation’ by Dr. Bharathi M. Sr. Lect. Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics delivered an inspiring lecture to the young budding dentists.
Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Vinaychandra R., Professor & Head of Department highlighting the importance of the subject and how the students should embrace it in their clinical practice. Principal, Dr. Rajkumar Alle addressed the gathering and acknowledged the contributions of Endodontists to the field of Dentistry. The function was followed by High Tea for the faculty members and students.
• Celebration in the Department of ‘Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics’
The event was well received by the audience including Faculty, Post Graduates, Interns and IV BDS students of RRDCH.

On the occasion of Indian National Oral Pathologist Day,a CDE programme was organized on 01.03.2023 by Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at RRDCH auditorium on Topic: Clinico-Pathological correlation: A problem-based learning approach. The programmewas moderated by Dr Suraj S and Dr Mohammed Nahyan. The Programme was ingaurated by our beloved Dean Dr Edwin Devadoss, Vice Principal Dr Girish HC and head of the Department Dr Savita JK.
Dr Savita JK , addressed the gathering and Dr Varsha VK introduced the guest speaker. The guest speaker for the programme was Dr Abhishek Bhadranna, BDS, MDS. He is a faculty in department of Dental Rehabilitative Oncology, HCG, KR Road, Bangalore. A wax carving competition was held for Interns and final year BDS. Best three carvings were awarded. Vote of thanks was rendered by Dr Girish HC.It was an interactive session an exuberant exchange of Knowledge between the participants and the speaker. The programme was a huge success with 215 participants.

On the occasion of INTERNATIONAL ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEONS DAY a program was organized on 15.02.2023 at RRDCHauditorium with the theme of IMPORTANCE OF ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS. The program began with a welcome speech and introduction which was given by the post graduates, it was followed by lighting the lamp by Dr.Madhumati, Dr.Mamatha, Principal and Dean. A skit was performed with the theme of ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS by the department post graduates and interns. A quiz competition was organized for final BDS students and interns on topics related to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. A poster competition was held for Interns and final year BDS. Best 3 posters and top 2 teams for quiz were also awarded. A walkathon was conducted on the theme of ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS from the dental campus till Anchepalya post by the staffs, pgs and interns. This was followed by a lunch get together with Dean, Principal, office staff and teaching, non teaching and students of surgery dept.All the staff, post graduates and interns of Department of OMFS actively participated making the program a grand success.

SUMMARY
The relationship between periodontal health and the restoration of teeth is intimate and inseparable. An adequate understanding of relationship between periodontal tissues and restorative dentistry is paramount to ensure adequate form, function, esthetics, and comfort of the dentition. The concept of biologic width forms the basis of success periodontal soft tissue integration. The overall health of periodontal tissue is solely dependent on properly designed restoration. Incorrectly placed restorative margins and poorly adapted restorations violate the biologic width. Biologic width is essential for the preservation of periodontium which ultimately decides the success of restorative procedures. Repeated maintenance visits, patient co-operation and motivation are important for improved success of restorative procedures with pristine periodontal health.

A screening and treatment camp was conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry, RRDCH in association with Rotary club of Chandra layout and Umesh Shetty Charitable trust at Vijaynagar on 25th February,2023 from 9AM to 4 PM as a part of mega health camp.
A total of 140 people were screened and 45 were given treatment and appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment. Oral health education was provided to all the camp patients.

The speaker was Dr. Dinesh Vasu, M.Pharm, PhD in Clinical Research, digital author, innovative development director. He explained the knowledge, skills acquired using digital platform simulated technology. This helps in numerous preparatory tests to give eligible candidates a masterstroke for their final PG NEET Examination. Principal, placement committee members & Interns attended the program.

A screening and treatment camp was conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry, RRDCH as a part of National oral health program(NOHP) at Srirangapatna on 15 th February, 2023 from 10AM to 3 PM.
A total of 343 people were screened and 52 were given treatment and appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.
