Anti Ragging Awareness Programme 2023
Anti Ragging Awareness programme for the current year 2022-23 was conducted as per the guidelines of Dental Council on 03.05.2023.
Dr. Shiva Sharan Senate Member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciencesand Member of Dental Council of India was the Chief Guest and Main Speaker.
The Dean Dr. Edwin Devadoss welcomed and honoured the Chief Guest, Principal Dr. Girish. H. C. welcomed the participants and outlined measures taken at Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital to curb the menace of Ragging. The Member of Karnataka State Dental Council and the Professor of Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital Dr. Shashi Kumar introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering.
Ragging and the damage it can cause to a student who indulges in Ragging.
The Chief Guest Dr. Shivasharan spoke vividly about incidents reported so far of Ragging in various Institution and how the first act was passed in Tamilnadu against Ragging and later it was adopted by the whole nation.
He urged students not to involve in this barbarous act.
Vote of thanks was given by Anti Ragging Committee Chairman Dr. Balaji.
All the first years, Interns, Seniors and many staff attended the function.

The Department of Prosthodontics, had conducted a hands-on workshop on the 21st of April 2023. Mr. Daril Atkins, Consultant Anaplastologist At D.A. ANAPLASTOLOGY INDIA LLC. Diploma holder in Fine Art of Sculpture and the first certified Clinical Anaplastologist, with 54 years of vast experience in the field of anaplastology, conducted the course. The program was also graced by our Dean, Dr. Edwin Devadoss, Principal Dr. Girish H.C, Dr . Shwetha Poovani, HOD of prosthodontics and all the Heads of other departments, Senior Professors, Faculty members, PG students of the department of prosthodontics, and interns. A total of 40 participants benefited from the workshop.

Dr Ritu Karidhal SriVastava, renowned scientist of ISRO, who is referred to as one of the rocket women of India and was a Deputy Operations Director to India’s Mars Orbital mission, Mangalyaan and also by the Guest of Honor , Smt. Sudha Rani, Kannada Film Actress.
The program was also graced by Dr S Vijayanand, Executive director, our Beloved Dean, Dr Edwin Devadoss, and Heads of other Rajarajeswari institutions.
Formal function began with an Invocation song by Shwetha and group and Lighting of lamp by the Dignitaries on the stage.

Endodontic Mishaps – 2023
The Interdepartmental meet conducted by the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics held on 27 th April 2023 was on the topic of ‘ENDODONTIC MISHAPS’.
It covered the array of Endodontic procedural accidents that occur at different stages of an endodontic treatment.
It shed light on the intricacies of the root canal system and how to manage them preventatively and correctively. And, how this complex system must be respected and understood in detail for successful endodontic treatment, failure to do so is what results in iatrogenic errors or Mishaps.

- Followed by a lecture by Mr Sharath Shetty with the presentation of handpiece maintenance.
- After the lecture, hands on demonstration of other equipments were given.
- The event was closed by vote of thanks by Dr M.B.Sowbhagya.

SUMMARY
Oral health of special children has been one of the grey area in the field of pediatric dentistry. There has been general agreement that these children has increasing prevalence of poor oral hygiene , compromised gingival and periodontal health and increased prevalence of dental caries than general population. Health care of such individuals requires specialized knowledge as well as increased awareness and attention,adaptation and accommodative measure beyond what our considered routine.
The goals of care include establishing dental home at an early age, obtaining thorough medical,dental and social patient histories and providing preventive and therapeutic services including behavior guidance and the multidisciplinary approach when needed.
An improved accessibility to dental services as well as dental health education is necessary to ensure that optimum dental care should reach this special group.

Content: A screening camp was organized by Department of Public Health Dentistry, RRDCH at Hallegere village, Mandya district on 26th March ,2023 from 10AM to 3.30 PM.
A total of 155 people were screened, and 60 were given treatment appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.
In the camp we have distributed toothpastes, tooth brushes and medicines for the patients and educated the patients using models and flip charts and movie played on T.V.

- The event was proceeded with Hand on Composite Restoration on Typodont Tooth
- Composite Restoration of Anterior Ellis Class IV Fracture was done by the Post Graduates of Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Department of Pedodontics.
- Certificates were distributed to the registered Post Graduates by Dean Principal and the Head of the Department.
The event was well received by the audience including Faculty, Post Graduates, Interns and IV BDS students of RRDCH. The Post Graduates Benefitted attending the hands on course.
