Placement and competitive examination committee organized NEET MDS orientation program in association with Bhatia coaching institute on 16/04/2024.
The speaker was Mr. Praveen, from Bhatia coaching Institute, explained various study plans and preparation strategies needed for NEET MDS entrance examination. They also provided 19 textbooks to the library which includes detailed chapter wise explanations required for NEET preparation.

Oral Biopsy: Revealing its importance in Dentistry a lecture hosted by Department of
Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology by HOD Dr Savita JK on 05-04-2024 as part of Interns study club 2024 was a huge success with a total of 50 participants (interns batch of 2019-20).
Following the lecture, students were taken to the histopathology lab, where Dr. Varsha VK and Dr. Vinay demonstrated the processes of grossing the biopsy tissue (specimen), processing, cutting, and staining the tissue.
The lecture session covered important topics such as “Importance of biopsy” and “Indications & Contraindications of biopsy” & lasted for approximately 1 hour which improved the understanding of the topics for the interns. The session was interactive and knowledgeable. The interns’ study club offers educational sessions that have aided in their knowledge acquisition.
The department is thankful to dean Dr. Edwin Devdoss and Principal Dr. Girish H C of this Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital for providing the opportunity to conduct this education programme for Interns.

    1) Introduction to the Event was given by Dr.Prasanna Kumar Y S–Professor Dept. of Public health Dentistry. Talk on “My Health, My Right”
  • 2) By- Dr.Rajeev.B.R Institute of Public Health, Bangalore. He spoke on the Fundamental Rights towards Health and Elaborated on Policy Making and Health Law.

Significance of the World Health Day event and memento was gifted to the speaker by Principal- Dr. Girish H.C and Vote of Thanks was
delivered by Dr Aruna C.N -Head of Dept. of Public Health Dentistry.
The event was well received by the audience including Faculty, and Interns and IV BDS Students of RRDCH.

Pediatric and preventive dentistry provides comprehensive treatment coverage of oral care for infants, children, teenagers, and medically compromised pediatric patients from diagnosis to rehabilitation. The process of leading a child through a dental appointment has been termed as “behavior management”. A shifting paradigm towards the modern world with the adoption and proliferation of digital communication
technology has evoked the need to reconstruct the old conventional behavior guidance techniques. These techniques have led to miraculous advancements for patient care in the smart digital era. Non pharmacologic clinical strategies include Parental presence/absence, Modelling, Tell-Show-Do, Distraction, Positive reinforcement, Desensitization, Aversive conditioning. Recent advances include Film modelling, Modifications of Tell-Show-Do, Ask-Tell-Ask, Tell-Play-Doh, Tell-Show-Play-Doh, Digital games, Audio distraction, Audiovisual distraction, Sensory Adapted Dental Environment (SADE). Primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care is provided for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs.

A screening camp was organized by Department of Public Health Dentistry, RRDCH at K Gollahalli Govt. Higher Primary School on 22nd March 2024 from 10 am to 3pm. A total of 265 students were screened, and appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment. Oral health education was done.

The importance of event was emphasized to the First year BDS students, Interns and Faculty of RRDCH. Welcome address was given by Dr Shweta Somasundara Y, Principal spoke on the importance of the occasion. The Grand finale of the fancy Dress and Mimicry Competition

Breaking the monotony and seriousness of academics, the Department of Conservation Dentistry and Endodontics conducted a series of competitions for undergraduate postgraduate and staff. The events culminated with the Grand finale of the fancy dress and mimicry competition with was held on 6th March 2024 in the Auditorium. The event was organised by Dr.Geeta IB along with post graduate student Dr.Arvind, Dr.Rachanaand Dr.Anaida. The participants came in their character attire and delivered the lip sync flawlessly. There were a total of 9 participants both UG and PG who actively participated and gave there
most lively and engaging performances. The prizes for the winners were distributed on 7th March by our Guest Speaker Dr.Shibu
Sreedhar.
The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics continues to explore the talent
present amidst us.

The Indian National Oral Pathologist Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Feb 28, 2024, at RRDCH auditorium through a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) program. The event focused on the theme “Oral Pathology: Decluttering the Path Ahead.” Dr. Rohith A and Dr. Pooja S served as moderators for the program.

The distinguished guests present at the event included the beloved Principal, Dr. Girish HC, Vice Principal, Dr. Madhumathi Singh, PG Director, Dr. Savita S, and the Head of the Department, Dr. Savita JK.

Dr. Girish HC welcomed the gathering and addressed the participants, setting the tone for the informative session. The introduction of the guest speaker, Dr. Krishnanand P Satelur, BDS, MDS, Associate Dean UG Academics, Professor & Head Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology at Dayananda Sagar College of Dental Sciences, Bangalore, was eloquently done by Dr. Varsha VK.
Dr. Krishnanand P Satelur, as the guest speaker, shared his expertise and insights on the topic, contributing valuable knowledge to the audience. The interactive session facilitated an exuberant exchange of ideas and information between the participants and the speaker.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Savita JK, expressing gratitude to all the participants, speakers, and organizers for making the program a huge success. With a remarkable turnout of 215 participants, the CDE program on Indian National Oral Pathologist Day proved to be an enriching and fruitful experience for all those involved.

A screening and treatment camp on the occasion of chairmans birthday was organized by Department of Public Health
Dentistry, RRDCH at Ambur town, vellore. Tamilnadu on 9th & 10th March 2024 from 9 am to 5 pm.
A total of 63 people were screened, and 32 were given treatment appropriate Referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment. Oral Health education to the patients were given using models and flip charts and movie played on T.V.

Event: Dhanthabhagya Yojane Free Denture Camp’ under National Oral Health Policy
Date: 20th, 22nd , 27th of feb & 4th of March 2024
Department of Prosthodontics, RRDCH participated in a ‘Dhanthabhagya Yojane Free Denture Camp’ under National Oral Health Policy scheme organized by Channapatna District general hospital in on 20th, 22nd , 27th of feb & 4th of March 2024.
During this period complete denture clinical protocols were performed for 55 patients and partial denture clinical protocols were performed for 19 patients.
The entire team consisted of the staffs and students from Department of Prosthodontics RRDCH, headed by Dr Shwetha Poovani, (Prof & Head of the Department), Dr.Ravi kumar ,nodal officer, Dr Madhuri (Reader), Dr Sindhu (Reader), Dr Suguna (Senior Lecturer),
Dr Shajith (Senior Lecturer), Dr Srishti (Senior Lecturer) and Dr Sushma J along with 18 PG students and 10 interns.
On 4th of March the team delivered 55 complete dentures & 19 RPD.

Poster Presentation Competition

The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics conducted a Poster Presentation Competition as part of the annual Cons and Endo Day- “Endo Essence” 2024. This event aimed to provide a platform for second-year Undergraduate (UG) students to showcase their research and understanding of conservative dentistry and endodontics. There were a total of eleven teams of which five presented on topics from Dental materials and six from preclinical conservative dentistry. The event was orchestrated by Dr. Damodharan and Dr. Swetha H. B, under the guidance of the Head of Department (HOD) Dr. Vinaychandra R, on 29th Feb 2024.

The judging panel included Dr. Shakuntala and Dr. Shwetha Poovani invited for the event on behalf of the Department of conservative dentistry and endodontics. Each team was given five minutes to present their posters and after presentation, the winners and runners up were felicitated with gifts.

Cooking without fire

As part of the cons -endo week celebration the department of conservative dentistry and endodontics on 2nd March 2024, organised a “cooking without fire ”
event for the non teaching staff . The competition was conducted with the aim to create awareness about the nutritional value of food cooked without flame , the necessity and advantages of healthy eating and to encourage students to select healthy alternatives to junk food . A sum of 3 teams were created with 3 members each and all the participants were asked to actively participate in the preparations. Each group prepared 3-4 items including a drink, snacks and a dessert. The judges for the day were Dr Shwetha G S from department of orthodontics and Dr Shwetha Somasundar from department of Public health dentistry. The teams were marked on the basis of their presentation, cleanliness, team work and taste .This event was flawlessly co-ordinated by post graduates Dr Srikar Comandur and Dr Mrinalini Jaichander under the guidance of Professor Dr Vinaychandra and Dr Dhamodar.

Candles not only have the power to light up darkness but also to charm minds with creative engravings made on it. Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics began its Cons and Endo day celebration 2024 with a “Candle Art” contest held on 1st march. The competition aimed to bring out the creative side of the students and for that each participant was provided with candles and the time limit of 1 hour to carve their skills on canvas. A total of 5 participants showcased their artistic side and produced amazing candle arts. This event was flawlessly coordinated by Postgraduates, Dr Krithika, Dr Sheetal under the guidance of Professor, Dr Shubhashini. Since commencement the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics has continued to bring out the best out of the students by arranging such milestone events.
