An Intercollegiate debate competition for the post graduate students of public health dentistry is being organized by the public health dentistry department of RRDCH on 15th April 2016 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in connection with the inauguration of the new mobile dental van.
The topic for the above mentioned debate competition will be “Dentistry on wheels-advantage or disadvantage”. Two post graduate students (one for and one against) from all the 13 colleges offering postgraduate course in our subject specialty have been invited to participate. A cash prize of Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 has been announced for the first and second place respectively and two prizes are announced in each category of for and against the topic.
Subject specialty judges are being invited from other colleges to evaluate the event.
This event has been organized to inform and educate students, especially final year undergraduates, interns and postgraduates about the importance and usefulness of dentistry on wheels, mobile dentistry and outreach programmes

A free dental camp was organized and conducted on occasion of World Oral Health Day – 20th March 2016 by the Department of Public Health Dentistry at ‘Shubham Karoti’ (Maitreyee Gurukula- Centre for integral education for girls) headed by Dr.Padma.K.Bhat-Prof and HOD-Department of Public Health Dentistry, Rajarajeshwari Dental College and Hospital.
A total of 67 inmates were screened. Distribution of oral health products and dental education was provided to the students and teachers of the institution. Also they were assured of free treatment to the needy at Rajarajeswari dental college and hospital.
The program was well received and acknowledged by the students, teachers, and management of the institution.

67th Republic Day celebrations was celebrated with Patriotic fervor at Rajarajeswari Dental College & Hospital on 26.01.2016. Dr. Mahesh Asst. Professor of Oral Medicine and Radiology hosted the Tri colour.
Staff and Students attended the Flag hoisting. Sweets were distributed to all who were present.
A camp was conducted at Ramanagara District Hospital as a part of “DANTHA BHAGYA Scheme” organized by Government of Karnataka for people from below poverty line by Department of Public Health Dentistry organized by Dr. Padma.K.Bhat-Prof and HOD-along with Dr. Anjan (Department of Public Health Dentistry) and Dr. Ravi Kumar (Department of Prosthodontics), Rajarajeshwari Dental College and Hospital.
A total of 308 patients were examined, out of which 55 were complete edentulous patients

A CDE Program titled “CBCT- AN IMAGING ADJUNCT IN CLINICAL PRACTICE” was conducted by the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital, Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital, Bangalore on Friday, 18th December 2015. The program consisted of guest lecture on the topic ‘Basic Principles of Multiplanar Imaging and Interpretation’ and ‘Changing Paradigms of Clinical Applications of CBCT’ by Dr Sharad Sahai, MDS, Director-Consultant, DMD Imaging, Dental and Maxillofacial Diagnostics, New Delhi (NCR). The programme was well attended by Dean, Principal, Heads of various Departments, faculty members, post graduate and interns and also delegates across various dental colleges in Bangalore.
The afternoon session included a CBCT HANDS ON COURSE, the course co-ordinator was Dr Sharad Sahai, MDS, Director-Consultant , DMD Imaging,Dental and Maxillofacial Diagnostics, New Delhi (NCR). This hands on course was attended by 30 Participants including faculty and postgraduate students from various departments, the course included Introduction and software installation and demonstration followed by hands on course which included few tasks and at the end there was question and answer session.
The CBCT unit (SCANORA 3D) was inaugurated at the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital, Bangalore at 12.00 noon on Friday, 18th December 2015. The CBCT unit was inaugurated by Dr G.M. Vamadeva, MD, FICP, Director of Health and Family Welfare services, Government of Karnataka in the presence of Sri. A.C. Shanmugam.BA, LLB, Hon; FIMSA, Chairman, Rajarajeswari group of Institutions.
A programme to bring awareness among students and staff about the Ragging Menace was conducted at Rajarajeswari Dental College & Hospital Auditorium. Prof. Dr. Nagalakshmi, member of Dental Council of India was the Guest of Honour. She presented a video and spoke about the ills of Ragging.
Mr. Manjunath, Inspector of Police, Kumbalgodu spoke about the criminality and consequences of Ragging.
Ms. Latha, Legal Advisor talked about the legal implications of Ragging and the punishment awaiting for those indulging in Ragging. Chairpersons of Anti Ragging Committee, Anti Ragging squad and Anti Ragging Counseling Committee Cell took part in the workshop. All students & staff were present for the function.
