The department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics celebrated World Orthodontic Health Day on May 20th, 2019 in the college auditorium. The day started off with the invocation song by PG student and welcome address by The Head Of the Department, Dr. Rajkumar S Alle. This was followed by cake cutting and The Dean’s address to the gathering. Awareness about orthodontics was given through few videos. A skit was performed by the students of the Department depicting how the orthodontic treatment works. This was followed by some entertainment programs, along with the smile contest for staff and students. The program was concluded by vote of thanks to the gathering by Dr. Shwetha G S.

A screening & Treatment camp was organized by Department of Public Health Dentistry at St. Benedict’s Nursing College on 20th May 2019 from 10.00 A.M to 1 P.M.
A total of 45 nursing students were screened. Health education was given to all of them using Health education aids. Oral Prophylaxis and Restorations were provided to 20 patients and appropriate referrals were made to Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital.

On Occasion of World Health Day 2019 The Dept. of Public Health Dentistry- RRDC&H conducted a talk to the Nursing Students and their role in Universal Health Coverage based on the Theme of “UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE”
at Divine Grace Nursing College- Anchepalya, Bangalore.
Faculty of Department of Public Health Dentistry including Dr Padma K Bhat- Prof And Head, Dr Aruna C.N – Prof and Dr Prasanna Kumar YS – Prof, conducted the program.
Dr Prasanna Kumar YS delivered a talk on the Role of Nursing Sector in Universal Health coverage. The talk was attended by approx. 100 Nursing students, including Faculty members and Postgraduates .The talk was well received by all.

A one day Lecture cum Hands on course on ‘Clinical photography’ was conducted on 2nd April 2019 at Rajarajeswari dental college & hospital auditorium by the Department of Orthodontics & dentofacial orthopedics in association with Canon India.
Guest speaker was Dr. Ravi Hebballi, BDS, MDS.
In the field of dentistry photography plays an important role and all the faculty and post graduates benefitted from this workshop.
His lecture on clinical photography was very informative where he explained the principles of photography and its use in various field of dentistry. His lecture was followed by an interactive Hands on workshop where all the delegates got an opportunity to try on various D-SLR cameras and its settings.
80 delegates participated in the event and Canon India offered special price for students to purchase Canon accessories.

A dental screening camp was held at Ajjanahalli on 03-04-2019. A team of dentists from the department of Public Health Dentistry of RRDCH conducted a screening camp for oral diseases for the local population. A total of 13 people were screened, given oral health education and appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH.
