The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics has invited PROF.GURKEERAT SINGH to conduct a workshop regarding Damon Passive Self Ligating Bracketing System.

The benefits of Damon system- to the orthodontists in terms of time and cost saving sand to the patient in terms of reduced trauma-are self evident.

Also enlighten Bracket positioning to be used for the biology of tooth movement.

This talk hopes to enlighten the list eneron the various scope of Damon Bracket System in future of orthodontics

International Women’s Day 2022

International Women’s Day “Red Letter Day” that broke the shackles of Gender Centric activism for women in general was celebrated in Dental college campus on 8/3/22(Tuesday) 10 am onwards.

The function was presided by Smt. Lalithalakshmi, Trustee, Mookambigai charitable trust and the chief guest for the event Mrs.Lalitha.K, Yoga instructor and therapist had graced the occasion.

The events and programmes were scheduled by POSH committee chairperson Dr.S.Savita and Cultural committee Chairperson Dr.J.Priyadarshni under the able leadership, support and guidance of Dr.Rajkumar.S.Alle, Principal and Dr.Edwin Devadoss, Dean in Dental college auditorium.

The significance of “Women wellness” was reinforced by a comprehensive Yoga and meditation session by Mrs.Lalitha and a presentation of “Women Health our concern” by Dr.Anuroopa, Professor, Department of Periodontology.

Amongst the Women Teaching and Non Teaching faculty – four members Dr.Savita.J.K,Prof, Dept of Oral pathology

were nominated for Exemplary services award based on years of service and contributions to the institution and the awards were distributed by the chief guest Mrs.Lalitha.K.

An E-Release of textbook “Essentials of Preclinical & Clinical Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics – Authored by Dr.Shubhashini & Dr.Annapoorna Kini, Professors, Dept of Conservative Dentistry was scheduled during the women’s day celebrations to honor our women achievers.

The formal programme was followed by cultural events of dancing and singing performed by teaching faculty and games for all non teaching faculty were also conducted.

White Coat Ceremony for 3rd BDS Students

A white coat ceremony was conducted for 3rd BDS students as a mark of the students entering in the clinics giving patient care. The program was organized by student council committee at Rajarajeswari dental college and hospital auditorium. Ceremony started with an invocation song and lighting of lamp by all the dignitaries. The ‘doctors to be’ students were congratulated by Dean Dr Edwin Devdoss. Principal Dr Rajkumar Alle motivated and inspired the students with words of wisdom. Dr. Rohit. S from the department of Oral and maxillofacial surgery presented a lecture on ‘clinical postings: a new beginning’ and Dr Jaya. A. R. from department of Pedodontics on ‘patient management skills’. Distribution of white coat was done to the 2nd BDS rank holders on behalf of the entire batch. The students stood in their places and wore white coat as an emblem of their profession, with an oath to keep patient first. All Heads of the department and staff graced the occasion and students cherished their moments.

A screening and treatment camp was organized by Department of Public Health Dentistry,RRDCH in association with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, National Oral Health Policy (Mandya division) at the Primary Health Centre Besagarahalli (marasinganahalli village), Mandya Taluk on 09th March 2021 from 10.A.M to 2.30 P.M. A total of 200 people from nearby villages were screened, 40 people were given treatment. Appropriate referrals were ensured to RRDCH.

A screening camp was organized by Department of Public Health Dentistry, RRDCH in association with Tattva School on 07-03-2022 from 10.A.M to 3.00 P.M.

A total of 221 school children and school personnel were screened for oral diseases including the adults for oral cancer at the venue and all the patients were provided necessary health education and sensitized about their oral health status and the treatments needed by them .Referral mechanisms to enable them to seek dental care at RRDCH was ensured. About 200 patients were referred to RRDCH for further required treatment.

On the occasion of National Dentist Day screening and awareness camp was organized by Department of Public Health
Dentistry in association with Pradhan mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana,Govt.of India at Balakrishna Rangamandir, Rajarajeswari Nagar, on 5 th March,2022 from 10AM to 3 PM.
About 57 patients were screened & referred to RRDCH for further required treatment. Oral health Education was given to all the camp beneficiaries.

CDE – Art & Craft of Anaplastology & Reversal of Diabetes

On the occasion of “PROSTHODONTIST DAY” celebration , CDE programme was conducted by the Department of Prosthodontics on 22nd February 2022, as a part of continual development programme.

The programme was inaugurated with a prayer song sung by Dr Rashmi(1st Year Post graduate student ,Dept of Prosthodontics) followed by lighting of lamp by our Beloved Dean, Dr Edwin Devadoss, our respected Principal Dr Rajkumar Alle, Vice Principal Dr Girish HC, PG Director Dr.S.Savitha , HOD of the Department of Prosthodontics Dr Shwetha Poovani,Guest Lecturers Mr Daril Atkins and Miss Annie .The programme was also graced by the presence of all the Heads , Senior Professors Faculties, PG students & Interns of RRDCH.

The inauguration was followed by Prize distribution ceremony which was hosted by Dr Sindhu K. The prizes were given away by our beloved Dean sir and Principal sir to all the winners for the series of events which were conducted by the Department of Prosthodontics for the students, including both the under and post graduates .

Dr Srilakshmi J introduced the first guest speaker for the day .The esteemed speaker for the programme was Mr Daril Atkins, Consultant Anaplastologist At D.A. ANAPLASTOLOGY INDIA LLC .Diploma holder in Fine Art of Sculpture. He has been practicing Anaplastology since 1969. He has pioneered the use of Medical Silicone Elastomers in India in 1969.He is the first to sit for the very first certification exam by the Board for the Certification of Clinical Anaplastologists in 2008. He is a member of The American Association of Medical Sculptors and later a member of The American Association of Anaplastologists .

The Topic for the CDE was ‘An Insight on Anaplastology’. The CDE programme highlighted the Tips and tricks of maxillofacial rehabilitation and a detailed explanation of the methods and materials used in dentistry to treat similar cases.

Dr Prajna P Shetty introduced the second guest speaker for the day Miss Annie from Sugar fit India. The topic for the CDE was ‘Reversal of Diabetes’. The CDE programme highlighted on the evidence based path to type2 and type 3 Diabetes reversals by solving the root cause of metabolic health.

Follow-up and screening session for receiving definitive prosthesis for mucormycosis treated and rehabilitated cases with interim prosthesis was conducted by Dr Anjan Kumar Shah, a Senior Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, who specializes in facial reconstruction with micro vascular flaps and rehabilitation with implants.

The programme was a huge success with 252 participants .A good feedback was received from various heads of the Departments, faculties and post graduate students. It was an interactive session an exuberant exchange of Knowledge between the participants and the speaker. A memento was given as a token of appreciation to the guest speakers by respected Dean sir, Principal Sir. Finally the session was concluded by Dr. Kiran Akshaya with vote of thanks.

Following the CDE programme a flash mob was performed by PG students and interns from the department of Prosthodontics near the gallery in RRDCH.

A hands-on programme was conducted in the Post Graduate laboratory at the Department of Prosthodontics after lunch.

In this programme, Mr Daril Atkins demonstrated the tips and tricks of designing and fabrication of orbital and auricular prosthesis on models and on patient for the postgraduate students, teaching and laboratory staffs from the Department of Prosthodontics.

The event ended with a warm vote of thanks to one and all who made it all a huge success.

Infection Control programme

As a part of infection control programme, the department of OMFS, Rajarajeswari dental college and hospital conducted a program on infection control. A talk was organized at RRDCH which was attended by the staff and post graduates and interns. The talk was given by Dr Rohit S and Dr Shruthi R from the dept of omfs , Dr Nandakishore from conservative dept and and Dr Prajna from dept of prosthodontics on various aspects of bio medical waste management. All the staff, post graduates and interns actively participated adding upto 160 participants. The program was a grand success.

International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Day

As a part of International Oral and Maxillofacial Day celebration, The Department of OMFS, Rajarajeswari dental college and hospital has conducted a program on the theme METAMORPHOSIS OF FACE- COMBATING MUCORMYCOSIS AND TRANSFORMING LIFE. A walkathon was organized by AOMSI at lalbagh botanical garden which was attended by the staff and post graduates of the department on 13.02.2022 with various posters conveying public awareness messages. This was followed by program in RGUHS at Dhanvantri hall where few talks were organized with focus about the theme by various maxillofacial surgeons and their experiences while managing mucormycosis. Surgeons were also felicitated for their covid related work. All the staff, post graduates of Department of OMFS actively participated. The program was a grand success.

On 14.2.2022 at Rajarajeswari Dental College & Hospital essay competition was organized for final BDS students with theme my perception about OMFS and interns on scope and future of OMFS. Two best papers were awarded with 1st and 2nd prize. This was followed by a sapling distribution in regards to go green theme. The saplings were distributed to the Dean, Principal and department faculty. All the staff, post graduates and interns of Department of OMFS actively participated. The program was a grand success.
