CDE – Art & Craft of Anaplastology & Reversal of Diabetes

On the occasion of “PROSTHODONTIST DAY” celebration , CDE programme was conducted by the Department of Prosthodontics on 22nd February 2022, as a part of continual development programme.

The programme was inaugurated with a prayer song sung by Dr Rashmi(1st Year Post graduate student ,Dept of Prosthodontics) followed by lighting of lamp by our Beloved Dean, Dr Edwin Devadoss, our respected Principal Dr Rajkumar Alle, Vice Principal Dr Girish HC, PG Director Dr.S.Savitha , HOD of the Department of Prosthodontics Dr Shwetha Poovani,Guest Lecturers Mr Daril Atkins and Miss Annie .The programme was also graced by the presence of all the Heads , Senior Professors Faculties, PG students & Interns of RRDCH.

The inauguration was followed by Prize distribution ceremony which was hosted by Dr Sindhu K. The prizes were given away by our beloved Dean sir and Principal sir to all the winners for the series of events which were conducted by the Department of Prosthodontics for the students, including both the under and post graduates .

Dr Srilakshmi J introduced the first guest speaker for the day .The esteemed speaker for the programme was Mr Daril Atkins, Consultant Anaplastologist At D.A. ANAPLASTOLOGY INDIA LLC .Diploma holder in Fine Art of Sculpture. He has been practicing Anaplastology since 1969. He has pioneered the use of Medical Silicone Elastomers in India in 1969.He is the first to sit for the very first certification exam by the Board for the Certification of Clinical Anaplastologists in 2008. He is a member of The American Association of Medical Sculptors and later a member of The American Association of Anaplastologists .

The Topic for the CDE was ‘An Insight on Anaplastology’. The CDE programme highlighted the Tips and tricks of maxillofacial rehabilitation and a detailed explanation of the methods and materials used in dentistry to treat similar cases.

Dr Prajna P Shetty introduced the second guest speaker for the day Miss Annie from Sugar fit India. The topic for the CDE was ‘Reversal of Diabetes’. The CDE programme highlighted on the evidence based path to type2 and type 3 Diabetes reversals by solving the root cause of metabolic health.

Follow-up and screening session for receiving definitive prosthesis for mucormycosis treated and rehabilitated cases with interim prosthesis was conducted by Dr Anjan Kumar Shah, a Senior Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, who specializes in facial reconstruction with micro vascular flaps and rehabilitation with implants.

The programme was a huge success with 252 participants .A good feedback was received from various heads of the Departments, faculties and post graduate students. It was an interactive session an exuberant exchange of Knowledge between the participants and the speaker. A memento was given as a token of appreciation to the guest speakers by respected Dean sir, Principal Sir. Finally the session was concluded by Dr. Kiran Akshaya with vote of thanks.

Following the CDE programme a flash mob was performed by PG students and interns from the department of Prosthodontics near the gallery in RRDCH.

A hands-on programme was conducted in the Post Graduate laboratory at the Department of Prosthodontics after lunch.

In this programme, Mr Daril Atkins demonstrated the tips and tricks of designing and fabrication of orbital and auricular prosthesis on models and on patient for the postgraduate students, teaching and laboratory staffs from the Department of Prosthodontics.

The event ended with a warm vote of thanks to one and all who made it all a huge success.
