On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, RRDCH organized a series of awareness activities to promote a tobacco-free society on 01-06-2026 and 02-06-2026
Tobacco sensitization programmes were conducted in 16 schools under Chunchunkuppe Gram Panchayat, educating students about the harmful effects of tobacco. A Tobacco-Free Generation Pledge was administered to encourage children to stay away from tobacco and spread awareness among their peers and families.
As part of the BBMP Rose Campaign, roses carrying anti-tobacco messages were distributed to the general public to promote awareness and encourage a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle.
The department also prepared and distributed awareness pamphlets to local shopkeepers highlighting important tobacco control regulations, including the recent Karnataka law increasing the legal age for tobacco
sales to 21 years.
An awareness programme was organized at the Rajarajeswari Rural Health Centre, Chunchunkuppe. Local shopkeepers were invited and educated about the legal and health implications of selling tobacco products to individuals below 21 years of age. A pledge ceremony was conducted, where participants committed to adhering to tobacco control regulations and supporting a tobacco-free community.
These activities successfully raised awareness among students, vendors, and community members, reinforcing the importance of protecting future generations from tobacco use.

On the Occasion of World No Tobacco Day – 31st May 2026, the Department of Public Health dentistry in association with District Anti -Tobacco Cell, Bangalore Urban had organized an awareness program inside the college premises targeting the patients and their families present in the OPD area. The event aimed to educate people about unmasking the appeal and harmful effects of tobacco use, risks of second-hand tobacco smoke exposure and the availability of CO breath analysis, oral cancer screening facility, behavioral counselling and nicotine replacement therapy in the Tobacco Cessation Clinic of the Department of Public Health Dentistry. In order to provide free samples to the needy patients, the TCC of our institution has received Nicotine gums, 2 mg and 4 mg, from the District Anti -Tobacco Cell, Bangalore Urban.
A pledge ceremony for students and families was conducted to adopt Tobacco-free lifestyle. The NTCP counsellor, social worker and health inspectors from the District Anti -Tobacco Cell, Bangalore Urban took part in the interactive health talks, Q&A session highlighting the risks of tobacco-related diseases and the importance of quitting. The event received a positive response.
This program was acknowledged and supported by the Management, Dean, Principal and Faculty of RRDC&H. All the participants co-operated in making this program a grand success.

A total of 25 inmates were screened for oral cancer. Oral health education and demonstration, awareness about harms of tobacco was provided to the attendees using flipcharts and posters. Pledge for Tobacco- free lifestyle was conducted. The program was well received by the officials, inmates and school children. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.

A total of 106 patients were screened and 24 were treated. Participants were educated on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene practices including regular dental check-ups. Information regarding the harmful effects of tobacco and alcohol on oral health was emphasized. Dietary counseling, focusing on the reduction of sugary food intake and promotion of a balanced diet, was provided. Distribution of Tooth paste and mouth washes was done.
Interactive sessions were conducted to address queries and reinforce preventive oral health measures. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.

Contents: On the occasion of World Health Day, a Dental screening and treatment camp was organized by the Department of Public Health Dentistry at Nirashrithara Parihara Kendra on 10/04/2026. The program aimed to promote oral health awareness and provide essential Dental care services to underserved populations. Comprehensive oral examinations were conducted, followed by necessary treatments and appropriate referrals.
The activities carried out during this camp align with the World Health Day 2026 theme, “Together for Health: Stand with Science.” This theme emphasizes the importance of evidence-based healthcare, preventive strategies, and community participation in improving overall health outcomes. By focusing on early diagnosis, health education, and preventive care, the program reinforced the significance of integrating oral health with general health and highlighted the role of scientific approaches in achieving better public health.
A total of 25 inmates were screened and 5 were treated. Toothbrush and toothpaste were distributed among all the inmates. Oral health education and demonstration was provided to 150 attendees and the program was well received by the officials and the inmates. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.
An Analytical Approach to Oral Biology and Oral Pathology
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Microbiology at Rajarajeshwari Dental College successfully organized a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programme on 16th March 2026. The session, titled “An Analytical Approach to Oral Biology and Oral Pathology,” aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the scientific basis of oral diseases and their clinical implications.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by the Principal, Dr. Girish HC, who emphasized the importance of continuous learning and staying updated with advancements in dental sciences. This was followed by an address from the Dean, Dr. Edwin Devdoss, who highlighted the relevance of integrating oral biology with pathology for accurate diagnosis and effective patient care.

Interdepartmental Clinical Meet – Modalities of Full Arch Implant Rehabilitation

Various methods have been employed in implant supported prosthetic rehabilitation like all on 4,all on 6,zygomatic and pterygoid implants.
Women’s Day Cricket Tournament 2026: RRDCH Team Secures Second Runner-Up
Cricket tournament was conducted by Rajarajeshwari Group of Institutions and Shri Chamundeshwari group of institutions on the occasion of Women’s Day which was held on 9th and 10th of March 2026 in Rajarajeshwari medical college. Rajarajeshwari dental women’s cricket team secured second runner-up in the tournament. We heartily congratulate the team for making us proud.
Republic Day Celebration 2026
RajaRajeswari Dental College & Hospital celebrated the 77th Republic Day on 26 January 2026 with great patriotism and enthusiasm, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution of India and upholding the values of democracy, unity, and integrity.
The programme was graced by the respected Principal, who served as the Chief Guest for the occasion. The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, instilling a sense of pride and patriotism among all present.
The Principal and the Dean addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Republic Day and inspiring students to uphold constitutional values and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the nation.
The event was further enriched by a wonderful and inspiring speech delivered by Dr. Rohit, Professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS), who emphasized the importance of responsibility, discipline, and service towards society as future healthcare professionals.

Smt. Lalithalakshmi Stree Sampoorn Utsav – Women’s Day
On 26th March 2026, RajaRajeswari Group of Institutions and Sri Chamundeshwari Group of Institutions celebrated Women’s Day at ACS Convention Centre, RRMCH at 10:00 A.M.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. A.C. Shanmugam, Chairman, and Sri A.C.S. Arun Kumar, President, and was presided over by Smt. Lalithalakshmi, Chairperson, MCET, along with Dr. S. Vijayanand, Executive Director, and heads of the institutions. The institution had the privilege of hosting renowned Indian cine actress Megha Shetty as the Chief Guest.The event commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. B. Sathyamurthy, Dean, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Prathiba, HOD, Paediatrics (SCMCH).
In her presidential address, Smt. Lalithalakshmi emphasized the strength and potential of women, highlighting the vision of Dr. A.C. Shanmugam in ensuring equal opportunities for women across all institutions, with more than 60% of the staff being women. She encouraged every woman to strive for higher achievements and to support and inspire future generation and also reiterated that empowering women is not optional, it is essential.
A significant highlight of the event was the Water Conservation Oath, where more than 3000 women, all dressed in blue, pledged to preserve water and promote sustainability. Mr. Harish from the Asia Book of Records announced the remarkable achievement of setting a record for the maximum number of women taking a water conservation oath, which has been recognized by both the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records.
Water is the essence of life, and conserving it is no longer a choice—it is a responsibility. As the world faces growing water scarcity, every drop saved today secures a better tomorrow.
The women of RajaRajeswari Group of Institutions and Sri Chamundeshwari Group of Institutions had united in a powerful show of commitment by taking an oath to save water and protect the environment on this occasion of “Women’s Day Celebration”- 26th March, 2026.
Marking the impact of the day, the attempt made set a record for the Maximum Women Taking a Water Conservation Oath in both the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records. Total of 2000 both Teaching and Non Teaching from RajaRajeswari Medical College and 1000 form RajaRajeswari College of Nursing, RajaRajeswari College of Allied Health Science and RajaRajeswari College of Para Medical with the participation of more than 3,000 women, this initiative serves as a strong reminder that collective action can drive meaningful change. All India Inter-University Sports South West Zonal Karate Championship 2025–2026
G Varun Shetty and Suhas S, Batch 22D at Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital, have achieved a significant milestone in the field of sports. They have been selected to represent Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) at the All India Inter-University Sports South West Zonal Karate Championship 2025–2026. On Occasion of World Oral Health Day, dental screening and treatment camp was conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry at Bannikuppe village, Bidadi on 24th March 2026 from 10 AM to 3PM in association with RRCE NSS unit.The program aimed to educate people about the importance of maintaining good oral health and preventing common dental problems.
A total of 100 people were screened and 15 patents received appropriate treatment. Oral health education and demonstration was provided to the attendees using models and flip charts. Appropriate referrals were made to RRDCH for further treatment.
41st Rising Day, Drug Misuse Awareness Program at RRMCH
The 41st Raising Day of the Narcotics Control Bureau was commemorated with a Drug Misuse Awareness Program under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on 17th March 2026 at the ACS Convention Centre, RRMCH. The event was organized by RajaRajeswari Group of Institutions in association with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Narcotics Control Bureau, and Disha Bodh Foundation.
The program was conducted under the guidance of the institution’s leadership, including Chairman Dr. A.C. Shanmugam, President Sri. A.C.S. Arun Kumar, Chairperson Smt. Lalitha Lakshmi, Executive Director Dr. S. Vijayanand, CEO Sri Seetharam IAS (Retd.), Dean Dr. Sathyamurthy B, Principal Dr. Basavaraj Bhandare, Advisor Dr. S. The institution had the privilege of hosting eminent speakers including Dr. Bhagawan BC, Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences; Sri Sachin Ghorpade IPS, Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau; and Sri Madhu N Rao, Advocate, Senior Standing Counsel and Special Public Prosecutor for DRI, DGGI, CBIC, and ED, Government of India.
The event commenced with an energetic Walkathon—the rally organized by NCB—aimed at creating awareness about drug misuse and its adverse effects, while promoting the message of “Say No to Drugs.” The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from dignitaries, students, faculty, and staff, making it a meaningful and impactful initiative.
Dr. Sathyamurthy, Dean, formally welcomed the gathering and introduced the objectives of the Raising Day program. This was followed by the felicitation of the distinguished speakers by the dignitaries on stage.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of RGUHS appreciated the efforts of the Narcotics Control Bureau and emphasized the “Nasha Mukt Bharat – Yuva Shudhi Abhiyan.” He highlighted the MoU with RGUHS, under which awareness programs were conducted across 13 districts through 16 events, reaching over 77,000 students and 1,500 teachers. He urged students to pledge against drug abuse, promote a healthy campus, and noted that 10,000–12,000 students have also pledged for organ donation.
Sri. Sachin Ghorpade shared that the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative began in 1986 and highlighted key achievements, including 1.5 lakh cases booked, over 2 lakh arrests, and the seizure of 6.5 lakh kg of drugs. He cautioned students about the legal consequences of drug possession, misuse of personal information, and emphasized that possession itself is a serious offense punishable by 10–20 years of imprisonment. He also encouraged the use of the Manas 1933 helpline to seek help and support.
Sri. Madhu. N. Rao spoke about the daily challenges faced in combating drug abuse, drawing from his professional experiences. He encouraged students to remain vigilant, resist drug use, and take responsibility in preventing substance misuse among peers.
The session also featured an informative presentation by Sri. Vikas Singh, Sub-Inspector, NCB, representing Disha Bodh Foundation, who highlighted the severe and long-term effects of drug abuse. He emphasized that recovery from addiction is difficult, reinforcing the importance of prevention and awareness.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Smt. Kanthi Shetty of Disha Bodh Foundation, bringing the program to a meaningful close.
