A screening camp was organized by Department of Public Health Dentistry at the Sri Shathashrunga Vidya Samsthe, Metipalya on 9th January 2018 from 10.30 A.M to 2.00 P.M. A total of 250 deaf children from residential school including school teachers and elderly patients from old age home were screened. Health education was provided to school teachers and elderly patients from old age home. Special sign language based health education has been planned through trained teachers for the deaf children. Treatment camps for needy students & elderly patients are planned to be implemented to facilitate necessary treatment in future weeks. Appropriate referrals were made to Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital.

A screening camp was organized by Department of Public Health Dentistry at the Govt. Primary School, Seegehalli on 8th January 2018 from 10.30 A.M to 1.00 P.M. A total of 52 school children were screened, Health education was given to all the students using Health education aids. Consent forms were distributed to students to facilitate necessary treatment in future weeks. Appropriate referrals were made to Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital.

Dantha Bhagya Denture Insertion Camp
Under the auspicious of “Dantha Bhagya Yojane” Scheme a Free denture camp was organized by the Department of Prosthodontics and Public Health Dentistry at Magadi from 27th December 2017 to 3rd January 2018.
75 patients were screened 60 were selected for providing complete dentures. 11 staff, 23 P.G’s, 30 Interns, 3 Technicians took part in this operation under the leadership of Dr. Goutham Shetty, HOD of Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge. 57 Complete Dentures were delivered on 03.01.2018 at General Hospital Magadi. 57 smiles lightened the hearts of all who took part in this campaign.

Danta Bhagya Denture Camp was organized by Department of Public Health Dentistry and Department of Prosthodontics, Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital in collaboration with Government Hospital, Magadi on 27-12-2017 from 11.30 A.M to 4.30 P.M. A total of 75 patients were screened and registered for complete dentures under the Danta Bhagya scheme and 51 primary impressions were taken for complete Dentures. Patients were referred to Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital for further treatment.

Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital in co-ordination with the Extension Activities Committee and The Department Of Public Health Dentistry observed WORLD AIDS DAY on 5th December 2017. Activities were held all day to mark WORLD AIDS DAY.
The forenoon session of the program included distribution of RED RIBBONS to Dea,Prinicipal and all the Faculty, Post graduate students,Interns and students of various Departments of RRDC & H.
The afternoon session included guest lectures to mark WORLD AIDS DAY.
A brief note on the speakers and their respective talks is as follows:
1.Dr.Swatanatrakumar Banakar- Deputy Director –Karnataka State AIDS prevention society delivered a talk on “Free HIV tesing centres and initiatives in Karnataka .”
2.Dr.Balaji.P –.Prof and Head,Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology-RRDC &H delivered a talk on “ Oral Lesions- An Indicator for HIV infection”
Head of Dept. and Extension activities Committee Dr.Padma K Bhat welcomed the gathering. The Faculty of Department of Public Health Dentistry coordinated for technical arrangements. The program was well attended by Dean, Principal, Heads of Various Departments, Faculty members, Interns, Post graduate and Under graduate Students.
