Course Overview

Prosthodontics is one of the largest department that pertains to the replacement of
missing teeth and associated structures due to congenital and acquired reasons. The
Dental prosthesis not only replaces the missing teeth, but also replaces form and
function of stomatognathic system.

The students are provided with explicit knowledge and skill to practice dentistry as
their profession after completion of the course

MDS programs offer one of the best PG training. Department has established itself
as a centre for full mouth rehabilitation, temporomandibular disorder management,
implant supported prosthesis, maxillofacial prosthesis and cosmetic dentistry,
wherein each student is extensively trained to treat full mouth rehabilitation cases

and restore with metal/PFM/All-ceramic units, complete dentures and special
dentures using different types of attachments. Students independently place
implants and restore 2nd stage cases and follow up with the prosthetic work. There
is a good patient flow for maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation. Keeping abreast
with current trends and advances, clinical and laboratory facilities like CAD/CAM,
Adjustable articulators, T-Scan, EMG, JVA, JT and TENS are made available.
Students are exposed to in-house Orofacial Pain Clinic dedicated to treating
patients related to temporomandibular disorders and occlusal calibration.
CAD/CAM clinic with intraoral scanner helps to facilitate enhanced speed and
quality of treatment. In collaboration with department of Implantology wide range
of treatment options in replacing missing teeth with implant supported prosthesis is
made available. At the end of the program the graduates will be able to implement
clinical solutions in response to Prosthodontic clinical problems by developing an
evidence based treatment plans and taking a holistic approach to solving problems
and designing treatment plans. They also demonstrate the ability to critically assess
scientific papers and available evidence such as guidelines and apply into clinical
practice.
