Department of Conservative Dentistry And Endodontics organized a CDE program on 28/03/2017 titled “Endotactics – Conquering Endodontic Miasma”.
The speaker Dr. Dharam Hinduja is a renowned endodontics practitioner at various corporate hospitals in Bangalore and is the present H.O.D of SJM dental college chitradurga. The CDE attendance was 160. There was a two hour lecture followed by hands on course on rotary endodontics.
The entire program received a very high appreciation from the audience.
On behalf of the entire department I sincerely thank the management for giving me an opportunity to conduct the program. I also thank the administration for their support , Dr. Dharam for his excellent performance in lecture and hands on, group pharmaceuticals for note pads & pen sponsorship, & the participants for making the event a huge success with whole hearted applaud.

About the Programme:
A continued dental education program was organized by the department of oral & maxillofacial surgery, rajarajeswari dental college and hospital, Bangalore on 16th March 17, 2017, for enlightening on current concepts of cancer management to fight against the oral cancer, which is the 3rd most common cause of worldwide morbidity in this present decade.
On this occasion we got three renowned speakers among us, viz. Dr. Moni Abraham Kuriokose, Dr. Sanjeeb Nair, & Dr. Mathangi, who shared their valuable ideas and concepts in the field of oral and Head & Neck cancer management.
Dr. Moni Abraham Kuriokose delivered his talk on prevention and early detection of oral cancer. He emphasized on the early clinical identification of cancer using an “expert eye”. He asked to raise the suspicion for cancer whenever any non-healing ulcer in oral cavity persist for more than 3 weeks. According to him early cancer detection provide more favorable prognosis and increase the average life of survival to the patients.
Dr. Sanjeeb Nair enlightened us with the ideas of advances in surgical management of oral cancer. He asked to follow a simple algorithm of early detection and surgical management with selective neck dissection followed by early reconstruction and chemo-radiotherapy depending on the conditions. He also informed us about the COTs, immune therapy etc.
Dr. Mathangi enriched our knowledge about the modern techniques used in chemo-radio therapy like IMRT, IGRT etc. She emphasized on maintaining a good relation between surgeon and radiation oncologist. She advised that not only simply refer a patient for chemo-radiotherapy, but also provide with pre-operative details and surgical findings along with a referral note. She summarized that simple T1-T2 lesion with N0 neck surgery is alone the best option; where as T3-T4 lesion with N0-N1 having chance of PNI or LVI may require PORT as an adjuvant treatment with surgery but in case of N3 neck with extracapsuler spread require CRT along with surgery, where chemo-radio therapy also act as palliation too.

Inter Dental Collegiate Cricket Tournament
2017 version of Chairman’s Trophy Inter Dental Collegiate Cricket Tournament was organized by Rajarajeswari Dental College & Hospital, Bengaluru from 1st to 13th March 2017.
In all 14 teams from the State Dental College took part Rajarajeswari Dental College & Hospital team won the Trophy defeating Maruthi Dental College in the final.
Shri Abhimanyu Mithun Karnataka State Cricketer awarded the Trophies and Prizes to the winners.

The world has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women’s and society’s thoughts about women’s equality and emancipation.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, so as were the chief guests invited for our Women’s Day Celebration.

The guests were honored and felicitated by our beloved Chairman Sri.A.C.Shanmugam. Women achievers of all the group of Institutions were also felicitated by our Hon’ble Chairman on this great day recognizing their adherence and attainment.
The program was organized in ACS Engineering College auditorium. The women from all our colleges – Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital, Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital, Rajarajeswari Engineering College, ACS Engineering College and also Rajarajeswari Nursing College participate with a great fervor. The program proceeded with lot of cultural programs. Minimum 3 to 4 programs were flown by the teaching and non-teaching staff from each college. All the women present in the celebration were served lunch. The celebration ended with a great triumph.

On the occasion of DENTIST’S DAY 2017 -Department of Public Health Dentistry, Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital conducted an Oral Health Education program and Distribution of oral health products to the students and teachers of Taralabalu Government school at Ganapathihalli- Tavarekere hobli.
The program was beneficial to 350 children and well received and acknowledged by the students, teachers, and management of the institution.

Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontic is Celebrating Endodontic week – ” ENDO – SPREE ” in association with IACDE from 6th March to 10th March 2017.
The event kick started with a walkathon on 5th march at 6:30 am in Lalbagh with the HOD and Post graduates participation.
On 6th march, Quiz competition, 9 teams participated lead by the post graduates of each department. Team Mamtha secured fisrt prize
On 7th march, debate competition was held titled Amalgam vs Composite. Team Monalisa secured first prize
On 8th march, Extempo competition was conducted and Dr chaithanya (Final year BDS) won first prize
On 9th March, Sketch Competition – Artistry in Dentistry was conducted, Siddarth (final year student) secured first prize.
On 10th march, the events were formally concluded with a small get together along with the judges.
