The Department Of Public Health Dentistry –RRDC & H in coordination with the NAAC Extension activities Committee headed by Dr. Padma.K.Bhat observed WORLD AIDS DAY on 1st December 2014.

Activities were held all day to mark WORLD AIDS DAY.

The forenoon session of the program included distribution of pamphlets about awareness/ prevention and taboos regarding HIV infection/AIDS. The pamphlets were distributed by the Faculty, Post graduate students and Interns of Department of Public Health Dentistry to the general population at Outpatient section of RRDC & H.

Pamphlets were also distributed among general population in and around the dental satellite centers at Channasandra and Agara village by Dr Shweta.Y.S and Dr Vasudha Sharma; Readers- Department of Public Health Dentistry-RRDC & H.

The afternoon session included a series of scientific sessions on Etiopathogenesis, Oral manifestations, prevention and awareness of AIDS/HIV infection to mark World AIDS Day.

A brief note on the speakers and their respective talks is as follows:

• • Dr. Shyamala- Reader from Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology: Delivered a talk on Etiopathogenesis of AIDS/ HIV infection.
• • Dr.. Mahesh T.S – Senior Lecturer from the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology: Delivered a talk on Oral Manifestations of AIDS/HIV infection.
• • Dr. Shivakumar. M – Professor from Department of Public Health Dentistry: Delivered a talk on Prevention, Awareness and Taboos regarding AIDS/HIV infection.
• • Dr. Aruna C. N, Dr Prasanna Kumar Y.S –Readers and Dr. Anjan. G – Senior Lecturer, Department of Public Health Dentistry coordinated for technical arrangements, addressing the speakers/audience and vote of thanks.

The program was well attended by Dean, Principal, Heads of Various Departments, Faculty members, Interns, Post graduate and Under graduate Students.
