CDE Programme on “Beyond the Horizon: Exploring Tobacco Cessation in Dental Settings”

On the occasion of “World No Tobacco Day 2025” the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital in association with the NSS unit, RRDCH organized a CDE Program and workshop with 3 KSDC Credit points.

The lecture was held to observe the occasion of World No Tobacco Day 2025, focusing on the dual themes: “Beyond the Horizon: Exploring Tobacco Cessation in Dental Settings” and “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Nicotine Products.”
The session addressed the rising concern over tobacco and emerging nicotine products, particularly the deceptive marketing strategies targeting youth. It emphasized the urgent need to counter these tactics and safeguard public health.
The lecture also highlighted the vital role of dental professionals in tobacco cessation. With their regular patient interactions, dental settings offer key opportunities for early intervention. Practical, evidence-based strategies were shared to help integrate cessation support into routine dental care, reinforcing the goal of a tobacco-free future.
The program was well received and attended by nearly 150 participants including, Faculty, Students, Interns, Post-Graduate Students of RRDCH and faculty members from other dental colleges. The Q&A session was active and whole program lasted half a day.
The Department of Public Health Dentistry also conducted an educational reel competition for which two best prizes and a consolation prize were given. Also on this occasion, the two teams that won the first and third prize in the district level inter collegiate educative reels competition hosted by Karnataka Cancer Society were awarded on stage.
This program was acknowledged and supported by the Management, Dean, Principal and Faculty of RRDCH. All the participants co-operated in making this program a grand success.
