Course Overview
Prosthodontics is one of the largest department that pertains to the replacement of
missing teeth and associated structures due to congenital and acquired reasons. The
Dental prosthesis not only replaces the missing teeth, but also replaces form and
function of stomatognathic system.
BDS program is a five years undergraduate program which involves 4 years of
classroom and clinical education and 1 year of compulsory rotating internship. The
department conducts- UG training programme right from 1st BDS to 4th BDS
where they learn about Dental Materials and Pre-clinical Prosthodontics during 1st
and 2nd BDS and Clinical Prosthodontics during 3rd and 4th BDS under careful
supervision of experienced teachers. The Department is well equipped with
Undergraduate clinics that are required to meet the pre-clinical and clinical
learning needs of students enrolled in various academic years. Skilled labs
equipped with 50 phantom heads for training students in fixed restorative
procedures. Interns are exposed to various clinical scenarios and are guided to plan
out treatment options for the same. They are also guided to perform diet and
nutrition counseling for the geriatric patients and also allowed to volunteer and
assist chair-side special cases.
The students are provided with explicit knowledge and skill to practice dentistry as
their profession after completion of the course.
